Amaze yourself with this candied 'ulu (breadfruit) recipe shared by the Hawaiian Cultural Center of Hāmākua. Baked with brown sugar, cinnamon, and marshmallows.
Ingredients
5 Cups of cubed steamed & peeled ‘ulu
1 Cup brown sugar
½ Tsp nutmeg
1 Tsp ground cinnamon
½ Cup butter
Marshmallows
Directions
Take the 5 cups of cubed steamed & peeled ‘ulu and place it on a greased 9 x 13 baking pan.
In a separate bowl, pour in brown sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, melted butter, and mix the ingredients together.
Scoop the mixture and dress it on top of the ‘ulu.
Top it off by covering the ‘ulu with the marshmallows.
Bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes.
