Amaze yourself with this candied ʻulu (breadfruit) recipe shared by the Hawaiian Cultural Center of Hāmākua. Baked with brown sugar, cinnamon, and marshmallows.

Brown Sugar Candied ʻUlu Recipe

Ingredients

  • 5 Cups of cubed steamed &peeled ʻulu

  • 1 Cup brown sugar

  • ½ Tsp nutmeg

  • 1 Tsp ground cinnamon

  • ½ Cup butter

  • Marshmallows

Directions

  1. Take the 5 cups of cubed steamed &peeled ʻulu and place it on a greased 9 x 13 baking pan.

  2. In a separate bowl, pour in brown sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, melted butter, and mix the ingredients together.

  3. Scoop the mixture and dress it on top of the ʻulu.

  4. Top it off by covering the ʻulu with the marshmallows.

  5. Bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes.
