‘Ulu Chowder Recipe

Chow down in this amazing creamy homemade ‘ulu (breadfruit) chowder recipe by Sweet Cane Cafe. This recipe incorporates local fresh ingredients from Hawaii.
5-7 cups ‘Ulu (pre steamed)
5-7 cups of chopped veggies (celery, carrot, broccoli, sweet pea, sweet corn and etc )
1 large onions
½ cup nutritional yeast
2-3 tsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
Pinch cayenne pepper
¼ cup olive oil
3 cups Macadamia nut milk
Take the cooked ‘ulu and cube it in 1/2 inch pieces and place it in a large pot.
Add macnut milk (see directions below) into the pot with ‘ulu.
Let the mixture simmer and mash the ‘ulu with a stainless steel wire masher until it turns into a creamy texture.
In the same pot, add the veggies into the creamy broth and let it cook together for 20 minutes or until veggies are cooked.
Add salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper into the creamy broth.
To finish, add ¼ cup olive oil and mix thoroughly.
In a blender, add 1 cup of Macadamia nuts and 2 cups water.
Once everything is blended, pour in your mac milk into the chowder.
