Our Frozen Recipe-Ready Packs Now Support Women, Children, and Infants Through a Federal Program

Revitalizing ancient Hawaiian staple crops like ʻulu (breadfruit), kalo (taro), ʻuala (sweet potato), and palaʻai (pumpkin) involves educating communities about these crops and ensuring their accessibility to families across Hawai’i, while also providing fair compensation to farmers. 

Leveraging federal assistance programs such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) can play a crucial role in making these healthy, locally grown foods more affordable and accessible. WIC specifically focuses on nutrition support for low-income pregnant women, new mothers, infants, and young children up to age five. The goal of the program is to ensure that families with young children have access to nutritious foods that are vital for their growth and development. Learn more about the WIC Hawaii program here.

Our Recipe Ready frozen products are now officially WIC-approved! This is a wonderful milestone for us and for the many WIC-qualified families across Hawai’i. We couldn’t be more excited to bring these healthy, local foods to even more tables.
