Semi-ripe ʻulu has a subtly sweet taste and moist texture - similar to sweet potatoes or pumpkin.ʻUlu is one of the only starches on Earth that grows on trees and is a beloved, traditional Polynesian staple crop. 

Our Hawai‘i-grown ‘ulu is washed, quartered, steamed, and frozen for your convenience! This minimal processing method ensures that you can obtain this superfood all year round without the hassle of trying to source and handle the raw seasonal fruit, which has a low shelf life of 3-5 days after harvest. 

Think of it like a spotted banana: a little less photogenic, but perfect for sweet creations. As ʻulu ripens, its starches naturally convert to sugars, making it ideal for desserts and other value-added applications.

Note: The skin of the breadfruit is perfectly edible and contains most of the beneficial nutrients!
