Decadent Homemade Ripe ʻUlu Brownies

Ingredients

142 g baker’s ripe ʻulu

½ cup unsalted butter

¾ cup brown sugar

2 eggs

¾ cup flour

¼ cup cocoa powder

¼ tsp salt
-
½ tsp vanilla
-
½ tsp baking powder

130 g chocolate chips
Directions
In a saucepan, melt butter and transfer to a large mixing bowl.
Add brown sugar and vanilla to melted butter in mixing bowl and whisk.
Slowly whisk in the eggs.
In a mixing bowl, place ulu with ¼ cup hot water and let sit for 2 minutes, then mash with a fork.

Add the ʻulu to the butter, sugar, egg mixture and whisk until smooth.
In a separate mixing bowl, add flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder and whisk together.
Add the dry ingredients in 1/3 increments to the wet and mix with a plastic spatula, do not over mix.
Add in the chocolate chips.
Place batter into a parchment paper lined 9 x 13“ pan.
Bake at 350°F for 25 minutes.
