Combining breadfruit flour & all-purpose flour these delicious homemade tortillas have a hint of sweet nuttyness. They're great with Grandpa Bill's Green Chili!
⅓ cup ʻulu flour
2 cups white or wheat flour
1½ tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
⅓ cup shortening or oil
warm water
Mix flours, baking powder and salt.
Add shortening or oil and work together until it is well blended.
Add warm water (it must be warm).
Finish mixing into a pliable dough.
Knead the dough into 12 balls, roll out with a rolling pin until about 6 inches in diameter.
Cook on a dry un-greased griddle over medium heat. Let one side turn evenly brown, flip and cook the other side the same.
To keep your tortillas soft and warm, wrap them in a clean tea towel as they are taken off the griddle.
Try with Grandpa Bill's Green Chili with ʻUlu Flour. Theses tortillas are a great for dipping, scoping, and stuffing! Try them with our Creamy ʻUlu Hummus. Yum!
